Professional change-allowing therapy for undesired sexual attraction feelings or behavior or undesired incongruent gender identity or expression is currently censored in the U.S. in 20 of the 50 states and only for minors. One of those states is California. Parents, however, are not censored from getting counseling and guidance.
As of June 2018, decisions from the Supreme Court of the United States indicate these laws censoring change allowing therapy may be unconstitutional. Lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of these laws are in progress.
